Forma3D · Print without Bambu Studio

3D print without Bambu Studio

You don't need a desktop or Bambu Studio to print a 3D model. Forma3D on iPhone or iPad can create or load a model, export a Bambu-ready 3MF with print settings, and send it to your Bambu Lab printer through MakerWorld and Bambu Handy — entirely from your phone.

What you need

The workflow — four steps from model to print

1. Create or load a model

Open Forma3D on your iPhone or iPad. Create a model from scratch using primitives, sketches, image-to-3D, or a LiDAR scan on supported devices. Alternatively, import an existing STL or 3MF file from the Files app, AirDrop, or another app.

2. Export a Bambu-ready 3MF

Tap Export and choose 3MF as the format. Select your Bambu Lab printer model (A1 mini, A1, P1S, P1P, X1 Carbon, and others), nozzle diameter, plate type, and filament settings. Forma3D embeds the print profile and per-face color data into the 3MF file, so Bambu Handy can slice and print without manual configuration.

3. Upload to MakerWorld

Open makerworld.com in Safari on your iPhone. Sign in to your account, tap Upload, and select the exported 3MF file from the Files app. When prompted, check the box "Yes, I have a Bambu Studio file" — this tells MakerWorld the file already contains slice settings and is ready to print. Confirm the upload and wait for it to process.

4. Send to print with Bambu Handy

Once the upload completes, open the model page on MakerWorld. Tap Send to Print or open the model in Bambu Handy. Select your connected Bambu Lab printer and start the print job. The printer receives the sliced file over the cloud and begins printing — no desktop required.

Why this works

Bambu Studio is a desktop slicer, but the 3MF file format can carry print profiles inside it. Forma3D writes these profiles during export, so MakerWorld and Bambu Handy can use them directly.

Tested and verified: this pipeline was tested end-to-end. Forma3D exports the 3MF with Bambu-compatible metadata, MakerWorld processes the upload, and Bambu Handy sends the job to the printer. No Bambu Studio or desktop computer is required at any step.
