3D Keychains from SVG

Use an SVG as a reference for a closed sketch, then turn that outline into a printable keychain on iPhone or iPad.

Open Sketch Mode

Launch Forma3D and tap the Sketch tool to start a new 2D sketch.

Sketch mode lets you draw 2D shapes that you'll later extrude into 3D.

Add an SVG Reference and Trace the Outline

Add your SVG as a modeling reference, then trace the outline with the sketch tools. Use artwork you created or have permission to reproduce. Close the outline before creating the 3D mesh; an open line is not a filled keychain shape.

A reference image is not automatically a solid mesh. Start with a simple outline, avoid tiny disconnected details, and keep a copy of the original SVG.

Set Height and Colors

Choose the extrude height for your keychain — 3–5 mm works well. Pick colors for different faces if you want multi-filament printing.

3 mm is sturdy enough for a keychain and prints fast.

Add a Hole with Cut Tool

Use the Cut tool to make a circular hole at the top of your keychain. This is where the keychain ring goes.

Measure your ring rather than assuming one hole size fits all. A 5 mm hole can be a starting point; leave enough material around it and test the fit on a small print.

Export and Print

Export as STL or 3MF. Open in your slicer (Bambu Studio, Creality Print) and print your custom keychain.

Export 3MF with colors for multi-filament printing on Bambu Lab printers.

Check the Model Before Printing

Verify the overall size in millimeters, inspect the ring hole, and check that the outline forms one connected solid. Thin bridges around letters and logos can break even when the file is a valid mesh. Material, nozzle diameter, layer orientation, and print settings all affect strength.

Open the export in a compatible slicer and review every layer around the hole and small details. For single-material printing, STL is a simple choice. For colored workflows, export 3MF and verify that the intended face colors map to the correct filaments.
