Bambu Handy companion: edit and prep models on iPhone

Bambu Handy sends files to your printer — it can't edit them. Forma3D is the missing companion: a full mesh editor for iPhone and iPad that prepares STL/3MF models, paints filament colors, and exports print-ready files for the Bambu Handy → MakerWorld flow.

The iPhone-only print pipeline

  1. Get a model — download from MakerWorld/Thingiverse in Safari, or scan with LiDAR
  2. Edit in Forma3D — resize, split with alignment joints, paint AMS colors, repair
  3. Export 3MF — per-face colors and metadata preserved
  4. Upload to MakerWorld — via Safari (see the upload guide)
  5. Print via Bambu Handy — open the model, send to printer

When you actually need Bambu Studio

For slicing with custom profiles, supports painting, and detailed print settings, Bambu Studio on desktop is still the tool. Forma3D covers model preparation — geometry, colors, splitting — on the device you already carry.

Frequently asked questions

Can Bambu Handy edit 3D models?

No. Bambu Handy is a printer companion — it sends files to your printer and monitors prints. For editing STL/3MF models on iPhone or iPad you need a mesh editor like Forma3D.

How do I print a model from my iPhone without Bambu Studio?

Edit or prepare the model in Forma3D, export it as 3MF, upload it to MakerWorld in Safari, then open it in Bambu Handy and send it to your printer. The whole flow works without a desktop.

Does Forma3D replace Bambu Handy?

No — they complement each other. Bambu Handy controls the printer; Forma3D prepares the model. You use Forma3D to edit and export the 3MF, then Bambu Handy to print it.
